SRF staff volunteered their time in various roles at the 2025 Minnesota Future City Competition. Sixth, seventh, and eighth-graders designed and built “cities of the future” through researching, building a tabletop scale model, submitting an essay, and giving a presentation the day of the competition.
This year’s theme was “Above the Current!” and teams were challenged to design a floating city and provide two innovative examples of how their floating city functioned to keep its citizens healthy and safe. SRF sponsored the “Best Transportation System Award,” which was awarded to Justice Page Middle School’s city, “Grad Apolona,” for visionary transportation planning. Here’s to supporting the next wave of young engineers!
Special thanks to SRF volunteers Ian Girardeau, Marie Cote, Kristin Zink, Jade Balcos, Claire Fineup, Jordan Hiedeman, and Renae Kuehl,
