The North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers recently awarded the Williston US 85 Northwest Bypass (also called the Williston Permanent Truck Reliever Route) with the 2016 Design Project of the Year. While SRF was working with the City of Williston on their transportation plan, the need for a bypass around the north and west sides of Williston was initially identified. We subsequently worked with the North Dakota Department of Transportation to design the $125 million bypass.
SRF Principal Rick Lane accepted the award on behalf of SRF and stated, “The Northwest Bypass not only provides a critical transportation route for the oil industry but has improved safety and reduced congestion for the citizens of Williston. We are proud to have been a part of the planning, design, and construction engineering for this important project.”
