Our dynamic and successful Traffic Operations Group is seeking a full-time Entry Level Traffic Engineer to join our collaborative Traffic Engineering team to deliver exciting projects for state DOTs, Counties, and Cities. As an Entry Level Traffic Engineer, you would be responsible for the planning, operations, and management of dynamic transportation systems, including urban corridors, freeways, and transit systems. This position would be based in our Minneapolis, MN office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Intersection control evaluations and traffic signal/roundabout justification reports
  • Traffic data collection and field observations
  • Conduct technical analysis using traffic simulation and modeling programs
  • Concept development and alternatives analysis
  • Corridor signal timing and operations
  • Multimodal transportation safety evaluations
  • Travel demand modeling
  • Dynamic traffic assignment (DTA)
  • Mine and evaluate big data for transportation analytics and assessing various transportation-related performance measures
  • Transportation Management Plans (TMPs), asset management, and benefit-cost analysis (BCA)
  • Connected vehicle signal applications
  • Develop documentation to support analysis work and transportation studies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and/or relevant degree; Master’s degree a plus
  • Zero (0) to four (4) years of traffic or transportation engineering experience
  • Strong analytical skills and technical writing ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills
  • Ability to thrive within a cooperative team atmosphere
  • Passion for emerging transportation technologies and trends, as well as multimodal transportation including car, pedestrian, bicycle, and transit modes a plus
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in several computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and experience with the following traffic engineering software a plus (Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, VISUM, RODEL, and HCS)
