Nick Erpelding, PE, PTOE

Nick has dedicated his career to traffic signal operations. With over 20 years of experience, he has become a recognized expert in the field of signal operations, having optimized signal timing for more than 1,000 signals in the past ten years. As a Director for the Traffic Operations and Modeling group at SRF, he leads and guides teams to provide traffic solutions for clients across the Midwest. Nick is recognized by his clients and peers for his leadership and creativity in the field. His experience includes coordinated signal timing optimization, Transit Signal Priority (TSP) operation, and corridor modeling and analysis. 

Nick’s clients and colleagues admire his ability to provide hands-on programming solutions both in the field and remotely to manage infrastructure and maximize performance of systems. In addition to his expertise in signal operations, Nick has led traffic signal and pedestrian signal design (40+), ITS planning and design, roadway lighting design, and traffic impact studies. Nick is an active in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and has presented signal operations topics at numerous district and national meetings.
