SRF partnered with Praxis Strategy Group to prepare an economic development resiliency strategy to help the Souris Region of north-central North Dakota emerge and thrive after the COVID-19 pandemic. The strategy identified needs related to economic development, such as workforce attraction, and identified priorities and associated strategies to help guide economic development action across the region’s counties, cities, economic development organizations, and nonprofits. Four pillars of action were identified, including leadership and capacity building, small business assistance, community development, and attracting people. The strategy relied upon engagement with regional organizations involved in economic development, including many focus group interviews and an online survey.
